Not many people know this, but Nutrisystem was founded in 1972. In 1999 the company started selling their meal plans over the Internet, and today it’s the most popular food delivery diet program in the world.
The Nutrisystem Fast 5 program works by delivering 7 breakfasts, lunches, and dinners along with 7 EnergiZING shakes and Craving Crusher shakes. Women get 1200 calories per day and men get 1500 calories per day. This creates a caloric deficit that should result in weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week. The nutritional content is in line with the 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
In addition to 7 days of meals, the Fast 5 program comes with a meal tracker to help you stick to the plan. Other than the shakes, this program is the same as the regular program. However, this is the way to get 7 days free.
Who’s behind it?
There’s no one person behind the Nutrisystem program. It’s a company that makes portion control easy for people with compulsive tendencies. They sell nutritious foods and meal plans with the proper balance of vitamins and macronutrients (according to the FDA). They also sell vitamins and supplements to make sure you get all the nutrition you need.
Nutrisystem employs a team of trained counselors who can explain the meal plan options for women, men, diabetics, and vegetarians. There is also a discussion board where members share tips and encourage one another.
